Finish the Fight: US Army takes outfit cues from Halo Universe

Whats an ODST?

What's an ODST?

This has to be one of the cooler topics I’ve seen on the gaming blogs in recent days. It’s a common fact that lots of soldiers currently deployed around the world play video games. But now the US Army has released information on future-tools-of-destruction that could be used by soldiers in our armed forces as soon as 2030. The best part: it all looks like something right out of Halo and Mass Effect. And these changes aren’t just cosmetic: visors with built-in facial recognition, boots that reduce the strain on the user, a new-age pipboy-boy style device to command drone units like those used in the Ghost Recon series. As for the price for all of this groundbreaking tech, the Pentagon is, understandably, mum. But don’t expect it to come cheap. As stated in the article, Congress has already scrapped a bunch of defense projects because of the recession. We’ll just have to wait and see if this technology is implemented in the future. I just hope between now and 2030 the Army will take steps to make the equipment look a little less fan-boy-cosplay-ish and more…you know…army/navy/seals bad ass. One word boys: camouflage.
