Every once in awhile it’s nice to find a story that sheds video games in a positive light. Take, for example, this story posted via Kotaku about 18-year-old Elijah Taylor who recently opened a video game store in the wake of his mother’s death. His reasons were simple: one, to make money off of the passion that both he and his mother loved, and two, to make a place where people could come and buy, sell, and trade games as well as meet other gamers in the community.

Looking at the inside of the store and seeing the kids and adults together talking about video games, I would say that Mr. Taylor has succeeded in his goals.  While I can’t even begin to imagine the pain that he must be going through I have to give him a lot of credit.  He’s using his, and others, passion for video games to do some good.  That takes a lot of guts.  I wish him nothing but the best of luck in these troubling economic times.

I can’t imagine the pain Elijah Taylor, the man in the story, has been going through. But at least he’s using his passion for a good purpose. And that takes a lot of guts. I wish him nothing but the best of luck and success with his store in these tough economic times.
