The Slippery 2009 Release Schedule – Just how many games will miss Holiday ’09

delayed

For video game enthusiasts, there is no more frustrating word in the English language than the word “delayed”. And holy smokes have we heard that word used a lot this year. Since E3 no less than thirteen games have seen their release dates go by the wayside. One game, Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon 4, has been pushed back until 2011! And there are rumors that the delays aren’t over yet. So what’s the upside to all these delays? Well, you won’t have to blow a hole in your wallet to keep up with the holiday release schedule. And while I hate waiting, too, ‘delayed’ is a whole lot better than ‘canceled’.

Here’s a current list of games that have been delayed:

Splinter Cell: Conviction – Ubisoft – 1Q 2010
Red Steel 2 – Ubisoft – March 2010
I Am Alive – Ubisoft – April 2010
Ghost Recon 4 – Ubisoft – March 2011
Bioshock 2 – 2k Games – 1Q 2010
Bayonetta – SEGA – Jan 2010
Max Payne 3 – Rockstar – Fiscal 2010
Red Dead Redemption – Rockstar – Fiscal 2010
Singularity – Activision – 1Q 2010
Heavy Rain – SCEA – 2010
Splatterhouse – NamcoBandai – Early 2010
Tiberium – Electronic Arts – Fiscal 2010
Mafia II – Take-Two – Fiscal 2010

And, to put your mind at ease, some games that are still coming out this year (fingers crossed):
Halo 3: ODST, Assassin’s Creed 2, Modern Warfare 2, Uncharted 2, Borderlands, New Super Mario Brothers Wii, Brutal Legends, The Saboteur, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Ratchet & Clank, Left 4 Dead 2, Scribblenauts.
