Dark Void wants to escape the holiday backlog – helps establish 1Q 2010 backlog

Has there ever been a year when this many titles have turned up delayed?  I mean, seriously folks.  Can any of you developers pick a date and stick to it?  I’m all for companies polishing their games to a spit-clean shine.  But it seems like this continuing game of ‘follow the delayed game leader’ is getting really played out.  In case you haven’t already heard, Capcom announced today that are delaying Dark Void’s release.  As reported on Kotaku:

Dark Void is moving into Capcom’s fiscal Q4 in order to get the game out of the crowded fall game season and to allow the development team more time to polish and enhance the game experience.”

First off, I have to agree with Kotaku on this one: the ‘crowded fall game season’ is quickly thinning out.  As for the other point, that they are trying to ‘polish and enhance the game experience’, sure, I’m down with that.  I think if a game company has the time and energy to refine their product that’s a very good thing. I just don’t want to write any more stories about games getting delayed. Unless it’s the G.I. Joe game. That game can be delayed indefinitely as far as I’m concerned.
