Mass: We Pray – The Devil in Disguise

Posted By: Rob James

According to “The Usual Suspect” the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince the world he didn’t exist. Well, EA and Visceral Games would prefer you think that he’s a little title called ‘Mass: We Pray’. The rouse started as a YouTube video that now has over 200,000 page views. The video then links back to a clean, pristine website with pictures and video from the games. This includes cross-shaped “we-pray-motes” and a kneeling accessory.

But this website has an awful secret. Touch anything on the page and up pops a window that reads “Heretic, may thou burn in Hell!” Yup, we’ve all been duped. This is all a big hoax that’s trying to sell Dante’s Inferno. Brilliant though I find it to be (and pretty hilarious) it seem like a pretty long way to go to get to a video and a link to the Dante’s Inferno facebook page. Almost as long as buying protesters to stand outside of the LA Convention Center during E3. But what do I know. Some marketing and PR guy at EA thought this was a brilliant idea. Who am I to argue?
