Doom: The Rogue Like

This one just made me chuckle.  I’ve never really been a fan of the original Rogue, but I certainly can appreciate the execution of something like this.  I mean, who would (honestly) expect Doom and Rogue to create anything but a total bastard of a video game step-child?  Clearly, there’s a reason why I don’t develop games.  Below is a video for a free to download indie game called DoomRL: a Doom Rogue-Like that actually looks like it might be fun to play.

The use of Doom’s original sound effect library is a welcome and unexpected addition, especially when you consider that the in-game “graphics” amounts to nothing more ampersands, exclamation marks, and percentage signs.

You can check out this game and the Diablo and Aliens RL at DoomRL.
