Tetris/Mario Mashup – Fun idea. Horrible title.
What would it be like if Mario and Tetris spawned a video game?
The makers of Tuper Tario Tros. have answered such a question, with mixed results. The game, which currently lives on the flash repository ‘Newgrounds’, is a very literal mash-up of the two games. You start out as Mario, on his never-ending left to right journey. But when he comes face to face with an impassable wall the player’s only option is to pause the game and use the tetris blocks, which magically appear, to get Mario to the end of the level.
As you would expect, you can line up a certain number of blocks in order to make them disappear. In fact, it’s the best way to get points. But it seems a little strange to clear the only thing keeping Mario from falling into the void. Overall, it’s worth playing if only to see what a totally nuts idea the concept is.
