FireFall: Guns are Always Better with Jetpacks!

You probably haven’t heard of Red 5 Studios or their game FireFall, but trust me when I say this: after you watch the videos below, you won’t soon forget them.  Revealed today at PAX Prime, FireFall, a new game from some of the minds behind Starsiege: Tribes (that’s right, the ORIGINAL Tribes), looks to have all the makings of that game…only made today: jump jets, turrets, light, medium, and heavy classes, as well as an art style similar to more recent entries in the series.  Now give me a disc launcher and mortar gun and you’ll make me the happiest kid in school!

Currently there’s very little info to go on as to what we should expect from the game.  Boris will have more for you guys when he interviews members of the development team on Sunday from their booth at PAX Prime.  In the meantime, enjoy the launch trailer and gameplay clip below.

[UPDATE]: It seems the Lead Designer on FireFall is the only member of the team who actually worked on the original Tribes game.  Mark Kern, the CEO and Chief Creative Officer over at Red 5, used to be a team lead on another lil’ game played by about 11.5 million people around the globe.  You might have heard of it: World of Warcraft ring any bells?  So even if this team is not forged from the “Tribes” milieu, it would seem more than a few guys on this crew know how to make a game.  Just check out how they recruited their current staff (they actually called it “the Golden Ticket” recruiting campaign).

I say jetpacks are always better with guns. But you say tomato, I say… hrm that doesnt work well with just text.

Anyways, there is a ton of information out there about what goes on in the game, you just gotta go to the forums. There is one thread that will answer most of your questions, and another couple threads should answer them all.
