VIDEO: Mega Man Universe longs to ’3D-ize’ the ’2D’ playing field

Have you seen the future of Mega Man recently?  In a video recently posted on Youtube, Keiji Inafune, the godfather of the Mega Man series, introduces us to the new look of the Mega Man series and its 3d/2d aesthetic.  The video isn’t all that long, with only about 50 seconds dedicated to gameplay, but you can clearly see this is a whole new Mega Man…even if it kind of looks like every other Mega Man game.  But I implore you to watch the movie below and draw your own conclusions.  What do you guys think of this new direction in the Mega Man series?

As someone pointed out on the VGEVO forums, I’m most interested in the possibility of a level editor – especially if those levels can be shared. As a series known for pushing gamer skills to the limit, I want to see what kind of horrors other players come up with.
