Stage Select Podcast: World 2-1 (Score: 12)

By Dave "Boris" Orosz | 23 February 2011 | Editorial, Featured, Stage Select | , , , , , , , | 2 Comments

It’s the first Stage Select of the new season, and do we have a treat for you. Joining Rob, Boris, Jason and Jon are Zvarri and our special guest host from PSNation, Torgo! With such a full crowd, what could go wrong?

For anyone who doesn’t know the structure of the Stage Select, let’s recap. All the questions come directly from our listeners. Each time we successfully get through a question, we get 1 point. We are known for our wild tangents and disagreements though, so the challenge we pose to the audience is this: Ask questions that take so long to answer that we can’t get through them fast enough.

This episode also topples the old Stage Select all time high score of 11! 12 is the new number to beat.

Do you have the questions it takes? Submit them at the VGevo GameCrashers Stage Select submission forum or email them to CrashCast@gamecrashers.net with the subject line “Stage Select Topic”.

High Score: 12
World 2-1 Score: 12

3 Points – Bluray for PS3, worth it or caused its price too much damage? (from ChryZ)

4 Points – Would you sacrifice framerate for prettier graphics? (from Plankfan)

5 Points – Would you rather open world games be shorter and released with fewer bugs to patch, or do you prefer the current trend of releasing larger open world games with more bugs that need to be patched later? (from BorisTI)

6 Points – Do all movie games suck or are we just being naysayers? (from hedge1001)

7 Points – Are anime style games becoming less frequent or do we as a whole just ignore them? (from hedges1001)

8 Points – How long until Nolan North appears on SNL? (from BorisTI)

10 Points – Where do you think the industry would be today if online multiplayer didn’t exist? (from bettertomorrow)

11 Points – Over the years have you kept all the boxes your consoles and classic games came in? (from bettertomorrow)

12 Points – What does a next generation mean to the next generation of gaming? (from BorisTI)

And here’s the Jesse Schell keynote Boris was mentioning during the final question:

The new site looks fantastic! very nice! everything is much more clear.

Also, i have two questions for you to discuss on the podcast (if you like them).

Why don’t companies try to support games for a longer period of time after release instead of just relying on the sales generated by the first few weeks?

Team Fortress 2 (for example) proofs that if games get support after release they will sell for extended periods of time.

    my second question:
What childhood trauma has Rob suffered in order to not like minecraft?

BTW: if my questions dont make the podcast i wont be upset or anything so feel free to make fun of them!

    Great podcast gentlemen!

Hey, don’t short sell your questions, they’re good questions. We’ll definitely ask these on a upcoming show. We generally work on first asked, first answered, so if it’s not the next episode, it should be the one after.

I’m glad you enjoyed the podcast.

Also, the official thread is actually at VGevo, the link is in the article for the podcast. I’ve reposted your questions there. Anytime you have an idea, throw them up on the thread. And encourage others to post on the thread as well, we want a diverse range of people and questions.
