MEDIA BLITZ: Dead Island Trailers & Gameplay

Did you know that Dead Island, the upcoming First-Person Zombiepocalpyse-in-paradise ‘simulator’ by Techland and Deep Silver, has actually been in development since 2007? I certainly didn’t. In fact, I, like most people out there, was totally caught off guard by the announcement trailer for this game. It was certainly one of the most original trailers I’ve seen for any game in a long time. A frightening depiction of a tropical utopia — a vacation getaway any family would die for — that is, until the guests actually started dying en masse. But like all good gamers, critics, what have you, I had to ask myself, “self…what will this game play like? Will it be too Left 4 Dead? Not enough Dead Rising? Will it do something ‘different’?” Well, Gametrailers got one of the Techland developers in a room to record some gameplay and go through the finer points of the game (without giving away too many of the ‘juicer’ bits).

And just in case you missed it, we have the ‘Announcement Trailer’ and the ‘Tragedy Hits Paradise – Part 1′ trailer for your viewing enjoyment. Just be sure not to lose your head or anything.

Dead Island will be released on August 1st 2011.
