SOE is offering a special “Alpha Squad” package similar to what MechWarrior Online did earlier in the year with its “Founders Package.” For only $40, you get $40 worth of in-game credits, an exclusive permanent camo set with matching vehicle, armor, and weapon skin, a unique ‘alpha squad’ decal, an exclusive ‘founder’ title, a six-month 10% XP boost and increased resource boost, 12 weapon unlocks for classes on all three empires, and (most importantly) access to the coveted Planetside 2 Beta.
Say what you will about this “pay-to-play” beta access world we live in. We all know that beta access should be about testing the game, not getting to play it early. That being said, games cost a lot of money to make, doubly so in the world of free-to-play games like MWO, Firefall, and Planetside 2. Founders programs like these help get the game from the development stage into release stage.
