I heard about a site called GameCrush.com when I was at PAX this past year and really thought nothing of it, foolishly figuring it would die rather quickly. The concept is that, at a per minute rate designated by the person on the site, a gamer can log in and have a “play date” with a man or woman (mostly women) on the PC, Xbox, or PS3 playing whatever games the date is offering. To my blatantly naïve shock, the site seems to be actually doing quite well and I can’t help but ask the question, how desperate are we? The site’s success obviously proves that there’s a demand for the escort gamer, but what is it that’s generating this demand? What are your opinions in the following matters? The site is constantly being a advertised as a place to play games with hot girls, so addressing the “elephant in the room” question, are gamer girls really that elusive that they can’t be found without paying $36/hr? There’s a large percentage of gamers who are women, about 40% according to the ESA three years ago. There are bound to be even more today. Let’s ignore for a moment that most people probably use GameCrush as a means of trying to get in some dirty conversation with a hot babe gamer and ask an otherwise ignorant question. How big of a problem is it to find girls to interact with when playing casually on the online multiplayer games we already play? I’ve heard of numerous gamer girls who hide their gender to avoid harassment when they play online. Is this happening so much though that people will pay just to knowingly have a woman there that they can play with and talk to, especially on a site that’s not set up to cater to nudity or adult content passing between their members? I’m not bashing on people looking for conversation and relationships, nor am I questioning people’s desire to have consistent friends they can play games with. I have to assume that this site traffics more than just those people who want the naughty pleasures and arousal that’s too obvious to really discuss here. I have to assume that the site traffics some who genuinely want a companion to play with. Online games today all have integrated match making features so that you can play with anyone whenever you want, and the consoles have friends lists dedicated to keeping track of the people you want to play with the most. Isn’t this enough without people needing some sort of gaming escort service to ensure that we’ll have people to play with? I guess with that said, is it difficult to find people to play with that aren’t total dickwads, male or female? Are these online lobbies so devoid of people worth while talking to that we are forced to pay people to be civil or human? Are all games just too jam packed with busting, tea bagging, shit talking, perverts that...

For anyone who doesn’t know the structure of the Stage Select, let’s recap. All the questions come directly from our listeners. Each time we successfully get through a question, we get 1 point.
