As is usually the case around E3, some announcements are just too “out there” to be true. But just because something gets debunked, doesn’t mean it’s without merit.
As I’m sure you’ve all heard by now, Activision and Bungie are going to be doing some serious hand-holding over the next ten years. The two announced a deal that will result in all future games developed by Bungie — under their new IP — to be published exclusively by Activision across ‘multiple platforms’ for the next decade. That’s no small feat, considering that Microsoft has done everything in its power to keep every Bungie game up through ‘Reach’ exclusive to the 360. While hordes of gamers, and even journalists, from every corner of the interwebs have already begun to ‘cry out in terror’ over the deal, I can’t help but think ‘is news really worth all the hoopla? Or are we all getting ahead of ourselves?’
Here’s a strange turn of events in the DarkSydePhil saga. While waiting for a response from Youtube regarding the copyright claims against him, Ubisoft went ahead and released an official statement regarding DarkSydePhil’s channel and their ‘issue’ with his videos. Turns out…they don’t have one!
Ubisoft isn’t making a lot of friends these days with its digital shenanigans. Sure, sure we all know about that little mess with the current PC DRM. But did you hear the one about the video game commentator who got shut down because he uploaded playthrough videos of *GASP* Splinter Cell: Conviction to his Youtube channel?
