Because good help is hard to keep, Rob goes it solo this episode and discusses the latest news from both GamesCom and Blizzcon. Now with 75% less bull$hit. Topics on the show include: - Games of the week: Trials HD and Shadow Complex - GamesCom 2009: Attendance numbers, The Whispered World, Dark Void Delay excuses, No Multiplayer for PSP LBP, Twenty Minutes of SW: TOR on IGN, PS3 slim is real, Fable III announced - BlizzCon 2009: Diablo III Monk Class revealed, Blizz denies that LAN is important, Chris Metzen announces WoW: Cataclysm. - Cake is had by all (wait…that’s not an actual topic. Dave, get out of my topic list!!!) As for the rumors, they’re all true (no comment). [dewplayer:http://www.gamecrashers.net/media/podcast/GC_EP12_082409.mp3] Correction: I mention that BlizzCon was happening in Seattle. Well, that’s not true. It actually took place in Anaheim, CA.
Although marred by a severe case of slide-show-itis due it’s extreme system requirements, Crysis one was undoubtedly one of the best shooters to come our way since the heady days of Half-Life. Sure, the story wasn’t amazing. But the combat was like nothing most of us had ever experienced in a shooter before. “You mean I get a nanosuit that can make me invisible? You mean I can punch a guy across the map? Holy crap I can stop bullets with my mind?” Okay, not all of that is true. But the nanosuit did play a huge part in what made that game a total blast to play. Would you boost your strength and rush a guy, grab him, and throw him into his unsuspecting buddies? Would you take the stealth option and hide behind cover until you could catch your foe unawares. Or would you up your resistance and go in guns blazing? The choice was yours. Now comes the best news yet: Crytek has built a new suit, and they want you to test it out! Announced at this years E3, it seems unlikely that we’ll see actual gameplay footage from Crysis 2 for quite some time. And with no release date given at GamesCom, or likely to be given at PAX, TGS, or any other 2009 convention, we’ll just have to wait and see what Crytek has in store for us come 2010. As for me, I’m just dying to get my hands on the Nanotech v2. Guess I’ll just have to hope that old adage “all good things come to those who wait” rings true. *sigh* Related Posts:CryEngine3 Beauty Trailer – is it ever!Red ‘Glitch’ RedemptionRage – The QuakeCon 2009 TrailerE3 Month comes to a closeGameCrashers Radio Ep.32 – Unreal Encounters

Whoever said adventure games are dead clearly didn’t tell German game developer Daedalic Entertainment that. And thank god for that because their game “the Whispered World” is a love letter to all the fans of that forgotten genre. If you haven’t seen this game yet, make sure to check out the video to the left. You’ll see a 2d, hand-drawn, point-and-click adventure game the like of which we haven’t seen since “the Longest Journey.” While it’s only just made it’s GamesCom debut and does not have a release date out side of Germany (yet), there is a lot of talk that Daedalic wants to bring it to other markets. As a fan of unique games like this, I’ll be happily awaiting that announcement. In the meantime, I’ll happy for a trailer with English subtitles.
It’s official: PS3 slim is a rumor no longer. In an announcement that once again proves Sony is the master of keeping a secret, Kaz Hirai told the press at GamesCom, as well as the rest of the world, that the PS3 Slim will be released this September. And the best news, Sony is going with the $299 price point, a decision that can only help sell more units of the struggling system. So, it is with great pleasure that I shall go finish and release episode 11 of the podcast, in which I will announce that the PS3 is (to me) a rumor up until the point that ‘Papa Hirai’ says otherwise. Mmmm, eating crow is so much fun.
