As I mentioned in the last Game Attic - the topic and timing of which was selected entirely by coincidence - I haven't been much of a fan of Sonic. Age appears to have changed my impressions of the first game, and I am looking forward to seeing if this holds true for the rest of the series. In the meantime, however, let's jump ahead a bit to Sonic's 3D debut.

Turkey day is here! Can you friggin believe it? The year is almost over and the number of games coming out at the same time is too overwhelming for words. But we here at GameCrashers were born for this kind of pressure. Best of all, the ‘Voltron’ five, Rob, Jason, Dave, Brian, and Sean, are all in attendance and on one Skype call. Yes, we’re pretty sure it’s the making of an “end of the world” scenario. Pixel Junk Shooter – Ice, Lava. Lava, Ice.

Check out the new ‘Ice World’ from PixelJunk Shooter. Having played only the first stage at E3, I can say that I’m really impressed with some of the elemental interactions going on here. You’ll get to see some different ways you can use the environment to melt and freeze paths that were originally closed, new ways you’ll have to deal with heat management on your ship, and new weapons that you can use to rescue all of the ‘survivors’ on a given level. Alright, enough of my yapping. Watch the video and enjoy the beauty of “Shooter” (man, that name really doesn’t do the game justice, does it?) PixelJunk Shooter is being developed by Q-Games exclusively for the PS3. PJS will release sometime in Q4 2009. Source: SCEABLOG via Viddler.com

Battlefield 1943 – Death From Above

If you give a gamer a plane, they will find something interesting to do with it. It’s a guarentee. Sure, flying the darn thing through the air is simple enough. But crashing it head first into the ground whilst blowing it the “f” up? Oh so much more rewarding (as the video below will demonstrate). This video was brought to my attention by some of my friends over at Video Game Refugees. It’s a collection of kamikaze artists who have taken the time to figure out the best way to use their planes to really piss the enemy players off: ramming it into any sorry sod standing between the pilots and total victory. Attach some C4 to your fusilage and you’ve got a flying molotov cocktail that’s going to blow the bad guys to bits. Victory has never been sweeter. Battlefield 1943 is available on XBL and the PSN. Thoughts on both BF1943 and BF:Heroes coming next week.
